Worldcoin was created by Nathan Gudmunson and released to the public in May 2013. It’s based in Lincoln, Nebraska Worldcoin (WDC) is a decentralized open-source digital currency. Its primary goal is to serve as a business-friendly payment network. Worldcoin takes pride in its lightning fast transaction speeds. A WDC transaction is carried out in less than 60 seconds.

The coin's creators aim to sponsor major ideas and breakthroughs, starting with an installation of a Worldcoin community-sponsored clean water well in Kenya.

Worldcoin employs the swift and resource-efficient Scrypt mining algorithm, which enables transaction confirmation times of 60 seconds or less (a lot faster than Bitcoin’s four minutes, thanks to the SHA-256 mining protocol). Worldcoin's supporters claim that this is the reason why both consumers and merchants prefer Worldcoin.
